The world loves American culture, but is deeply distrustful of American politics and power. Radboud University offers critical insights into both. The master program enables students to acquire solid expertise in relation to the concept: "America in various fields": The Story of the US, literature, culture (including the popular culture, films, theaters and art) as well as political history, foreign policy, constitutional law, religion and social science. The master program at Radboud University differs from other US programs that focus on the cultural and political ties between the US, Europe and its neighbors.
You can choose one of the following specializations:
Literatures and Cultures of North America in International Perspective- American cultural icons are global cultural icons, from Walt Disney to the Statue of Liberty, from Hollywood to the magazine "Time". The influence of American culture and literature in the world is enormous. The program allows students to critically explore the significance of American culture from an international perspective.
Master specialization offers courses connected with contemporary American novels of the American avant-garde events and/or literary and cultural works of American ethnic groups, African, Latino. Particular emphasis lies on social and socio-political context in which literary and cultural communications acquire meaning.
Transnational America: Politics, Culture and Society- a so-called "transnational turn," American Studies sharply increase its look over and across national borders. In this program you will explore politics, culture and society of the United States, within the national borders of the country, and beyond. The central theme is the exchange of cultural and political ideas between North America and Europe, as well as related issues of Americanization, globalization, cultural exchange and political and cultural imperialism.

Possible careers: The Masters offers a wide range of possibilities. Interdisciplinary training and high level of English will help you find a job in an international environment. You can work in a school or university, as a journalist, publicist, in a museum; in the sphere of international finance, business management, and international relations.
